Because you don't really ask a question in your post, here's a game that helps you to learn the differences in Qúe vs. Cuál.
Cual is used when you have to make a selection from several things.=which, what Que= what, or which, however, when using the verb ser Que is used before ser only when asking for a definition. Que es la vida? =what is life? Cual is used before ser when you ask for a choice.
cual es la fecha? what is the date= two ways to say the same thing.. que fecha es? what is the date.
in the second example,. Que means what as cual in the first example. Both are asking for a choice. You cannot say Que es la fecha because you are not asking for a deifinition of something but a choice of dates among many.
