Hi! Are there any differences of usage between weather and climate?

"Climate" is the general weather of an area. "Weather" refers to a specific time. For example, the climate could be that it is usually warm and sunny, but today the weather is rainy.

Hay una broma en inglés que dice el clima es lo que se espera y el tiempo es lo que se consigue.

There is a joke in English that says climate is what you expect and weather is what you get.

Yes. It's the same difference that exists between El clima and El tiempo.

Searching "clima" I just found a mistake http://www.spanishdict.com/translate/climate

la clima

Entonces según entendí:

El clima de la Ciudad de México generalmente es templado. Pero durante la primavera se torna caluroso y las condiciones del tiempo son días soleados y despejados.

clima. m. Conjunto de condiciones atmosféricas que caracterizan una región.

tiempo. m. Estado atmosférico.

Basically, yes. You could omit "generalmente" since "clima" implies the general/prevailing conditions. - samdie, Nov 24, 2010
