I recently heard the word "baquedos" (sp.?) on the History Chanell mentioned in a program describing the influence these "individuals," ? had to Billy The Kid. I am curious as to what it means.

Banqueros? Bankers.

Billy the kid had an ongoing relationship with bankers. Here is Billy the Kid: alt text

maybe vaqueros, referring to cowboys, those guys who used to drive cattle and play with guns.

Welcome to SpanishDict.

There is no word approximating "baquedos" in English. I think that mediterrunio's guess is probably the best, although I think that cowboys may take some exception to the way that he catagorized them (although the driving cattle is certainly accurate)....
