Esto no es nada. Espera a que use la grapadora.

This is nothing. Wait until I use my stapler.

I wanted to say "Just wait until I use my stapler." I thought about using "solo" to say "just". But, I didn't think that would be a good translation. - ronm192, Nov 23, 2010
I think solo is fine for that. I could be wrong, but I don't think so. - webdunce, Nov 23, 2010
I was thinking it might translate as "only". I'm thinking that maybe saying "Just wait" may be an english slang sort of thing. But, you might be right. It may work just fine. - ronm192, Nov 23, 2010
What I'd say in this case in Spanish: 'Esto *no* es nada. Espera a que use la grapadora'. You need the double negative, it is a staple in Spanish (pun intended :). Oh, and rather than 'Solo..', I'd say 'Tan solo espera..', but it seems too literary. - bill1111, Nov 23, 2010
I think that, In English, just means only in this case, ron. Only wait till I use my stapler. - webdunce, Nov 23, 2010
Yeah that´s what I was figuring too, web. Thanks. - ronm192, Nov 23, 2010

Imacs were invented for us Irish and blonds; tell this poor soul to stay away from a PC as they are the devil's work.. wink cool smile.

Also, we don't use 'pobre alma' to say 'poor soul', simply 'pobre'. - bill1111, Nov 23, 2010
'Los iMacs se inventaron para nosotros los irlandeses y para las rubias. Dile a esta pobre que no utilice un PC, porque son obra del diablo.' (the 'porque' is optional, but 'que' sounds too informal, like you are saying 'dile que son obra..' again) - bill1111, Nov 23, 2010

If you were saying 'This one is much more simple', as in 'This word processor..', then 'Este.. would be justified. If you simply say 'This is..', you need to translate it as 'Esto es..' - bill1111, Nov 23, 2010
lol and more effective until you see the results lol :) - FELIZ77, Nov 23, 2010
Thanks Billstpor's. I edited it to Esto es, since my gut tells me it would be closer to my meaning. - aprender100, Nov 23, 2010

Very funny!!! The english translation might sound better if you say: ¨One thing is certain: Her hair has not been dyed. She is a natural blonde.¨ - ronm192, Nov 23, 2010
Or you could shorten the whole thing to just say: "It is clear that she is a natural blonde!" - ronm192, Nov 23, 2010
thanks ronm192.! - artina, Nov 23, 2010
:) Good work!! - ronm192, Nov 23, 2010
Here's a number of ways you can say that correctly in Spanish: 'Su pelo no es teñido. By the way, when you talk about your whole hair, it's also singular in Spanish. - bill1111, Nov 23, 2010

How can you tell a beginner has been using the computer? Because there is correction fluid on the screen.

We are all blonds at times, and just foolish at other times. I can be both at the same time , an Irish genius. - ray76, Nov 23, 2010
lol, just kidding, sanlee jejeje - Brynleigh, Nov 23, 2010
'decir a un principiante' means 'say to a beginner'. Also, in Spanish it almost begs for a 'Porque' in front of the reply. Without it, 'Hay un..' seems like a completely different statement. - bill1111, Nov 23, 2010
¡Gracias, Billsport! - sanlee, Nov 23, 2010
Sanlee ' because' is preferable to becuause lol :) - FELIZ77, Nov 23, 2010
Good caption:) - FELIZ77, Nov 23, 2010
'Porque' is written as a single word in statements. It's only written as two words in interrogative sentences. - bill1111, Nov 23, 2010
Thank you Feliz and Billstpoor for your corrections. Very helpful. - sanlee, Nov 23, 2010

Don't you know that for corrections in computers, we use only erasers?

....we use only erasers. - sanlee, Nov 23, 2010
jeje 'rubber' is sort-of ok here, I would still say it but it will often raise a snigger! (slang for condom, seba!). See mycolloquial threads, if you haven't already by the way. :D - galsally, Nov 23, 2010
Yeah, I have a great story from when I was at the bookstore in college (in the USA). With a line full of students, A British student was embarrassed after he tried several times to get help finding a rubber. Very different connotation here. - ronm192, Nov 23, 2010
I would change the word to "erasers" to be sure. Also, "correction" should be plural "corrections" or you can add an "a" in front and leave it singular "a correction". It is also a question. So you need a question mark at the end. - ronm192, Nov 23, 2010
Yes, I know about this other meaning of rubber (it's the same in my native language) , I was choosing beetwen rubber and eraser, so is eraser used more frequently? - seba2, Nov 23, 2010
I think you mean: "Don't you know that for corrections in computers, we use only erasers?" - ronm192, Nov 23, 2010
Yes, I think eraser is used more frequently, at least in the United States. I suppose in British based english, rubber is used. But, I really think eraser is more common (and less of a risk) - ronm192, Nov 23, 2010
Ok, to avoid some misinterpretations I've changed it. - seba2, Nov 23, 2010
Would it be ok to say 'to correct things in computers'? instead. I know it is grammar wise, but I mean idiomatically. - bill1111, Nov 23, 2010
Good point, Bill. Actually, it should read: "Don't you know that to correct things on a computer, we use only erasers?" It is a small point, I didn't even notice it before Bill mentioned it. Good job on both languages, Seba. - webdunce, Nov 23, 2010

Why not just use paper? This seems so heavy. I wonder what it will cost to send this letter.

'ella'= redundant subject pronoun, and should go. Also: ', se olvidó de todo lo que' or 'olvidó todo lo que' (the 'de' preposition is linked to the use of the pronominal 'se') - bill1111, Nov 23, 2010
