what doe abrirme exactly mean?

Hi im not sure what abrirme exactly means in a few sentences that I have come across. I am not sure if it is suitable to be used when asking for permission to do something or asking for a favour? I have 2 examples on hand 1. ?podria abrirme la puerta? 2. ? le importa abrirme la puerta por favor?. I think in both cases it is asking for a favour but i am not sure. If anyone could help that would be great. thanks!

podría means could you
abrir means to open
me is the first person singular idirect object pronoun attached to the infinitive abrir, it means for me
la puerta means the door
