"La prevención de las patologías..."
Here I go again ![]()
Context=aquaculture ie: fish farming. The complete sentece is La prevención de las patologías causadas por virus está recomendada por la FAO y la OIE y la UE para que la Acuicultura pueda ser alternativa a las pesquerías.
My question is this: Is patologías interchangeable with enfermedades in Spanish?
*Patología *translates, has the dictionary definition of "pathology" . In English "pathology" is quite distinct from "disease". In English at least, "pathology" is the study and diagnosis of disease.
So I can translate this as: (1) "The prevention of diseases caused by a virus..."
or thinking in English, (2) "The pathology for the prevention of diseases..."
I prefer the first one but the logic of "pathology", as I say, is study and diagnosis.
So to reiterate my query: Is patologías interchangeable with enfermedades in Spanish?
Thanks for any help.
