Meeting the Girlfriends family

Hello,

I am new to this site, well, actually signed up in April but just don't seem to get time to get online.

Anyway, I am hoping that some of you's would be kind enough to help me out. I am going on a trip to Ecuador in 2 weeks to meet my Girlfriends family for the first time.....

Are there any polite phrases that I could use.

I know some of the formal ways of greetings etc

But are there any others you's could see being of use. I know this question could provide unlimited answers, but I am nervous (and desperate haha)

Regards and Thanks

Matt

I'm not a native but I found this link Ecuador Customs and scroll down a bit to find the good stuff. Things like bring flowers, but not lilies or marigolds. Use the appropriate greeting for the time of day buenos dias, buenos tardes and buenos noches, use the correct honorific (Señor/Señora) and shake hands keeping eye contact. Be prepared to kiss at that right check (without actually touching) if the Señora offers it.

Watch your girlfriend and take her advice. With my wife's family, she won't leave until she has said goodbye to everybody individually. You will want to have a goodbye phrase or two.
