Please help with use of the subjunctive

Does this sentence need the subjunctive in the 2nd clause?
Espero que estés bien y tu viaje fue muy agradable.
Context: My friend just returned from a trip. I want to say I hope you are well and your trip was very enjoyable. Thanks for helping me.

Tienes que usar el subjuntivo pasado en la segunda cláusula. Espero que estés bien y tu viaje fuera muy agradable.

Although both phrases are correctly in subjuntive, as pescador1 suggested, they are different tenses, so for clarity I would insert "que" after "bien"
