In this sentence: Hubiera preferido poder hacerlo solo, pero las piernas de un niño de siete años no daban más de sí.
Is ¨daban más de sí¨ a phrase? The translator says that this means gave themselves over but I guess I don´t see that meaning unless it is a phrase. Any help would be great. Gracias
