Cuadrar = to please?

If it's correct, then one has to use cuadrar in the same way as 'gustar', 'parecer' etc.

Hmm. I would have thought something more like "it suits me" or "it fits me". Kind of the same thing.
Of course, something can suit you without your actually liking it. I can imagine someone saying to a convict "Those prison stripes and leg irons really suit you!" without thinking that you really enjoy them.
According to the DRAE, there is other meaning of 'cuadrar' that suits his sentence (no pun intended): 'Dicho de una cosa: Agradar o convenir con el intento o deseo.' However, in all fairness, in Spain we don't use that word in that sense, so I wouldn't use it as my go-to word to say 'to like' ![]()
