Ayudar a / to help
I'm studying on the prepositions. I have a question about the verb ''ayudar'' In dictionary there is a sentence : ¿en qué puedo ayudarle? (how can i help you?) I dont understand the structure of the sentence. Ayudarle? why it's not ayudar and what is ''en'' doing there?

Why it's not ayudar and what is ''en'' doing there?
It is ayudar, but it has a "le" added to it to mean "help you" (polite). Whatever list of prepositions you're learning, is incomplete and seemingly confusing. The verb "ayudar" does not require any preposition, but it can -and it often does- take some, depending on what you want to say:
Quiero ayudar = I want to help (no preposition)
Quiero ayudarte = I want to help you (no preposition, but "a ti" = "to you" is implicit here)
Quiero ayudarte a ti = I want to help you (that "a ti" is contrastive)
Quiero ayudarte a limpiar = I want to help you to clean
Quiero ayudarte en tus tareas = I want to help you with your chores
Quiero ayudarte a ti a limpiar = I want to help you to clean
Quiero ayudarte a ti en tus tareas = I want to help you with your chores
