What is the present progresive form of escribir?

You need to find the 'gerund' of escribir = writing.

So to get technical if I have it right in my head; a gerund is a verbal formed by adding ing to a verb. While it looks like the present participle, it functions as a noun, as in playing in We were shocked by the man's noisy eating. - Kiwi-Girl, Apr 30, 2011

'eating' would be the gerund. This term may be confusing as a gerundio in spanish is a participle acting as an adverb. But then again knowing me I've probably got it all back to front lol :p - Kiwi-Girl, Apr 30, 2011

The verb infiniftive and present and past participle are called non-finite forms of the verb. (There is no person (1st, 2nd, 3rd) associated with the form as there is with a conjugated form of the verb.) Therefore, the conjugation of escribir has nothing to do with forming the present progressive tense. Estar is the verb that is conjugated.
