Usage of decidir

I would like to say "John decided to play golf." I am a little confused on whether I should use que or not. For example, should it be "John decidió que jugar golf" or "John decidió jugar golf"?

Like Julian said "a" is not necessary. "John decidió jugar golf" is correct.
