Los Lonely Boys - Live Concert

If you're not familiar with Los Lonely Boys, they are a rock band from Texas with obvious Hispanic roots. Think younger generation Los Lobos. In fact, Cesar Rosas from Los Lobos plays guitar on Crossroads in this show. Los Lobos and Los Lonely Boys were touring together. Los Lonely Boys. For me the funniest song is listed as Wedo's in the Barrio. Obvious misspelling of guero - "A male Caucasian who thinks he's a Mexican". Hilarious. You have to listen to the end of the previous track to get the story. The guy coming out to play with them is a guero buddy of theirs.

If you're not familiar with the Internet Archive, in the live music section all the bands have given their permission to listen to/download the music, so it's perfectly legal.

Thanks for sharing Kevin. I love music. I have heard of this group before and they are very good! They play in a style that I enjoy.

Beyond learning Spanish, I think it is important to be familiar with the music, food, and as many other aspects of the culture as possible.

Can you imagine someone learning English so they can communicate with people in the U.S., but not being even slightly familiar with baseball and apple pie?

That's a huge part of it. You'll never really get the meaning if you don't understand the culture. That's one reason why I hesitate when people here say Spanish is the same everywhere. It's not. The language is, the referents aren't. - KevinB, Nov 15, 2010
