Simple Question: One or Two

Simple Question: One or Two

I was translating in my head on the way to work this morning (a habit I have found myself performing lately) and was thinking about the following phrases:

un mes o dos (a month or two)

and

uno o dos meses (one or two months)

I know the first phrase is very common in English, but I was just curious if one is preferable in Spanish or if they're both used regularly.

Thanks so much for any input!

Both are used... but it needs a little correction...

un mes o dos

uno o dos meses
