For the most part I understand the difference between por and para, but I am confused about the difference between "para qué" y "por qué", particularly when they are used in questions.

What is the difference between "para qué lo necesitas" and "por qué lo necesitas".

What you are asking is when por and para are forming expressions. I will give you a link to all the common expressions using these two words.

Por and para
