translation help - Robert Burns

Question

There is an expression heard in English, "Man's inhumanity to man" that is from Robert Burns' dirge "Man Was Made to Mourn".

Someone has asked me to help translate to Spanish, and I am stumped. There is the obvious direct translation, but is there an fixed expression in Spanish that carries the same meaning?

Alguien me pidió que le ayudara a traducir esa expresión a español, y me quedo perpleja. ¿Existe alguna expresión fija en español? He buscado traducciones, pero no las encuentro.

I think it´s a good authoritative translation and you will not find a better way to convey that idea without losing the effect of that disturbing contradiction.

Hay un dicho latino que dice "Homo homini lupus est" cuya traducción a español es obviamente "El hombre es el lobo del hombre". Pero no estoy segura si eso es lo que buscabas...
