How would you correctly say "I invite him"?

I keep getting "I invite you" with everything I come up with.

Lo invito a él.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think to phrase it like this adds extra emphasis on "HIM" such that it come across as though you were inviting HIM and, as a result, could not invite others...as though there were choice between him and someone else. - webdunce, Nov 11, 2010

That's because "I invite you" and "I invite him" would both look the same in Spanish...

Lo invito (Or, Le invito...in some regions)

You, him and it are all LO in third person for direct objects.

What's worse is that you, him, it and HER, and it are all LE in third person indirect objects.

NOTE: LO only equals the formal you (the usted form). Tú (the informal you) is te in both its direct and indirect object forms.
