A recent article in El País talked about renaming the "be corta" "uve." What is the usual form of "be corta," "b" or "v"?

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Here's the official word:

La denominación “be alta o larga” para referirse a la “b” o “ve baja” para la “v” se sustituirá obligatoriamente por la nomenclatura “be” para la “b” y “uve” para la “v”, algo común en España, pero no en América latina.

Fantastic! I learned "ve" and "uve" in Spain and can't make myself understood in Mexico! - rob-andi, Nov 2, 2014
Our family name is Overton and everybody mis-spells it as "Obertón" because that's what the spelling rules say to do. We don't mind the accent on the "o", but the "b" bothers us. - rob-andi, Nov 2, 2014

Simply look at the written (in lower case) letters. Which would you guess to be the "short"/"low" one?
