You can also use "estar podrido".

"podrido" is a nice word (and a cognate of the English "putrid"). To me it sounds worse than "spoiled" but that's just a matter of degree. - samdie, Nov 9, 2010

How about la comida se echó a perder? But that says that the food spoiled and not that the food is spoiled, right?
