"false hope" ?

Question

I watched Mar Adentro, con Javier Bardem. At one point, he said, (trans in the subtitle) "I do not want any false hope". It sounded to me that he said somethng like "machinera"...but I cannot figure it out? "false hope" Is there a word or phrase that denotes this?

Wouldn´t it be that scene in which he says:

Bueno, pues, para mí esos dos metros necesarios para poder llegar hasta ti y poder siquiera tocarte es un viaje imposible. Es una quimera. Es un sueño.

Well, for me, those 2 meters, necessary to get to you and being able to touch you, is an impossible journey, a chimera. A dream.

Not false hope in my version, but...

machinera -------> una quimera

I haven't seen the movie but imaginar can be a synonym for esperar so maybe they used this word in some way. They don't always make the translations literal, which can be problematic! Now I'm going to have to watch it! I'm curious!

My version of the film says nothing about "false hope" in the sub titles of that scene. I suppose there must be different versions.

I can't think of any word that would fit that context and sound remotely similar to 'machinera', but the usual way of talking about 'false hope' in Spanish is 'hacer(se) ilusiones'. In that case ('I don't want any false hope'), it would be "No quiero hacerme ilusiones"
