Amigos,

In the colloquial, is "de hacer falta" (the de + infinitive format) applicable in these sentences:

  1. If she needs something to do, she will call you.

  2. If she needs you to do something, she will call you.

If it is, please finish them off, if not please provide the way it is commonly said.

Muchisimas Gracias

yes, colloquially it´s possible.

Other possiblities, also informal:

Si hace falta, ella te llamará

Si hay que hacer algo, ella te llama

Si necesita que hagas algo, ella te llama.

Si ella necesita algo, te llama.

Si ella llega a necesitar que hagas algo, te llamará.

So "De hacer falta ella que haga algo, te llama." and "De hacertelo falta ella que hagas algo, te llama." are correct??? Because I don't hear sentences formed like these, I only hear "si necesita..." often??? - apritada, Nov 5, 2010
no, you´re suggestions don´t sound correct. De hacer falta, ella te llama sounds acceptable. - mediterrunio, Nov 6, 2010
