Me tira para atras usage

Question

My friend says this is like "it's difficult for me", and Tony said it is like "that makes me not want to do it" and I was thinking more like "It throws me under the bus, throws me behind".... to......

Ex. LLegar a las seis es dificil para mí. LLegar a las seis me tira para atras.

Is this a correct usage? If not, can you provide a correct usage? Gracias.

I think you have two situations. Two uses of me tira para atrás

If you have to overcome something and you feel reluctant to do it because the effort does not seem worthy, te tira para atrás the possible failure.= it´s hard for you to go on (becasue it does not appeal to you, as Cogumela pointed out ).

Now if you come late at home, te tira para atrás in the sense that you feel tired and unwilling to do something. Maybe it´s hard for you to go on (again) but due to something that has already happended (to come at 6)

I think that in English you would use different expressions for each situation but I´m not sure if I can give you a clue. Maybe it puts me off (or something opposed to it turns me on) could put you on the right track.

I would say that not, Jeezz, this is not like "es difícil para mí"

I think that Tony is right, me tira para atrás is "it does not seem very appealing to me ", something really "knocks you back."

Could tirar para atras not be used for something that you find kind of jarring - like Me tira para atras cuándo hablas tan fuerte delante de la gente Maybe a sinonym of chocante? I always thought it was something that made you kind of taken aback like gave you a jolt. Like Cogu said it knocks you backward.

Yo jamás usaría esa expresión (solamente si algo me está halando físicamente para atrás), pero según el ejemplo que pusiste quiere decir "it puts me behind".

Well I'm not arguing with Tony at all, just trying to get a wider range of viewpoints as all my friends at work had differing opinions. Here is the Context:
