No hay unidades disponibles

Question

Not enough free space (on your harddrive). I know unidad means "ship" a lot of the time and the dictionary lists it as "unity", does it mean freespace here? Gracias.

unidad means ship?! I guess it could in a war game? Also tanks are unidades in that context. - mediterrunio, Nov 5, 2010

Answer 1

unidades in a computer refers to your hardrive, your pendrive, or any other storage device you have installed. If the software does not recongnize your hardware it usually says (very often in Windows) No hay unidades disponibles.

If you want to store something bigger than the available space, it says no hay suficiente espacio en la unidad

Answer 2

No conozco este uso de unidad, pero creo que quieres decir que el disco duro falta memoria o no hay espacio libre en el disco duro. ¿?

Answer 3

"unidades" - "units"... there are no available "units" - there is no room.

"unidad" can also mean a specific numbered vehicle (at least in Mexico), such as "no se permite fumar en esta unidad", as well as a reference to specific law enforcement officers, such as "acudieron seis unidades a la escena."
