Actual... real VS up to date

Actual... real VS up to date

So if actualizar means "to bring up to date", and actualidad is "the current situation", then is "actual" a synonym for "real" or for "up to date". El conocimiento actual, real knowledge...... or up to date knowledge? El conocimiento actual = El conocimiento real? No sé. Gracias.

Hola:

Para mí es "up to date" "current", nade que ver con realidad...

actual.

- jeezzle, Nov 3, 2010
¿Cuál? - LuisaGomezBartle, Nov 3, 2010
Esto... Pero en íngles "I don't know about that" es una expresión que usualmente no tiene nada que ver con el conocimiento actual. .. - jeezzle, Nov 3, 2010
You are right. Conocimiento actual = current knowledge. - LuisaGomezBartle, Nov 3, 2010
Puedes decir "conocimiento en sí"... - LuisaGomezBartle, Nov 3, 2010
Que significa "conocimiento en si"? Knowledge in yes? No entiendo bien. - jeezzle, Nov 3, 2010
jeezzle, try conocimiento real - KevinB, Nov 3, 2010
I don´t know about that no tiene que ver sólo con un hecho fáctico sino también con el mundo de las ideas - mediterrunio, Nov 3, 2010

I agree with mediterrunio...

Actual= current or present, e.g.; el"actual" campeón= the "current, present, or reigning" champion.

Actual= real or verdadero, e.g.; the "actual" owner= el"verdadero" dueño.

el conocimiento actual would be current knowledge (in a field of knowledge)

el conocimiento real is not a common phrase (even though it seems to make sense). Besides, it should be opposed to el conocimiento imaginario, which is nonsense from Descartes onwards.

a synonym for real would be verdadero, el conocimiento verdadero as opposed to el conocimiento falso.

Finally, I think I did a good job adding a bunch of words to the general confusion shock
