Translation of sentence
I am using the phrase "Yo me voy....." and I said "Yo me voy a escuela." Is that sentence completing the phrase correctly and what exactly is it saying?

Here is the root of the problem, Ir and irse are not exactly the same thing.
Ir = to go Irse = to go away
Therefore, Yo me voy = I am going away and Yo me voy a la escuela doesn't make sense. It would be "I am going away to the school."
Just drop the me and you will be good.
I say, "Me voy a (someplace)." quite a lot. It is subtly different from, "Voy a (someplace)". The first emphasizes the fact that I'm leaving (right now). The other emphasizes the fact that I'm going to (someplace) rather than (someplace else).
Me voy a la tienda. ¿Necesitas algo? - I'm going to the store now. Do you need anything?
¿A dónde vas? Voy a la tienda - Where are you going? I'm going to the store.
The dictionary here uses the same constructions
using the phrase "Yo me voy....." and I said "Yo me voy a escuela." Is that sentence completing the phrase correctly and what exactly is it saying?
yes, it´s a correct way to complete the sentence, but you have to add the definite article to escuela: Yo me voy a la escuela.
It means I´m going to school now. I understand that ´me voy´ expresses an immediate departure, differing from Yo voy a la escuela, that expresses an action that takes place repeatedly.
A more precise translation:
Yo = I don't know about you, (but)...
me voy = I'm leaving
Yes, You need to use the verb ir = to go and conjugate it for the first person singular (.I )
The verb' irse' means to go away which is not the correct verb if you are trying to say: I am going to school
I hope this helps ![]()
