Tener a medias

Well I found a bunch of conflicting results for "tener a medias". My phrase: Nota: Acuérdate de usar un nombre distinto si quieres guardar el juego que tienes a medias.

Remember to use a different name if you want to keep the game that you were in the middle of.

Now why "tener" is used I don't know. So I looked up "tener a medias" and got...

it's "tener a medias"... because someone has half of that...

Acuérdate de usar un nombre distinto si quieres guardar el juego que tienes a medias... if you want to save the game you have half of it finished, remember to use a different name...

Convivir con mi ex pareja por tener a medias el piso... living with my ex because I have half the apartment.

No se puede tener a medias... one can't have half of it

A mí no me dejó la primera vez por tener a medias una instalación de Chromium que mantenía una dependencia sin instalar... it didn't let me the first time, beacuse I had half (advanced) an instalation of Chromium that kept a dependency uninstalled.

It's not neccesary to have the half exactly... it can be just part of it...
