What is the meaning of "digaremos"?

Hi,

On my linguaphone all talk course there is a section on ordering dinner.

When the man speaking (who is booking a table at a restaurant) is asked what time he wants the table for, he asks his wife who says "digamos a las ocho" which I understand to mean, 'let's say 8 oclock', however when the man then replies to the lady at the restaurant he says what appears to be "digaremos a las ocho". What is the meaning of digaremos? I have googled it and see the word used, but cannot find any further information as to formation, conjugation etc.

The course then goes on to explain that "digaremos a las ocho" means 'we'll be there at eight' but I cannot see what verb it is conjugated from etc. and would really like to understand!

Thanks a lot, leigh

Welcome to the Forum! The word "digaremos" does not exist, and it is not what he says. Logically, he must. Be saying "llegaremos" - "we shall arrive".

As for the digaremos/llegaremos issue, that makes perfect sense, I have listened to the dialogue a few times since and have concluded that must be what is said, it's been a valuable lesson realising quite how similar the 'll' and 'di' sounds are! Thanks. - leebeelee, Nov 2, 2010
