hmmm... it's short for "compadres"... it's used usually as... "dudes", or "bros"...
"¿qué pasó compa?"... "what's up bro?"

Is that Universally used throughtout Hispanoamerica Tony or is it only in Mejico?

hmm... although the RAE says it's used in Latin America, I've only heard it in the north of Mexico... right now I'm on the south... and I don't hear it that often... - Tonyriva, Oct 31, 2010
