Quien dirige la orquesta?

My Spanish teacher of 4th level college Spanish says the person who leads the orquestra is el director. When I tried to make a flashcard with it, the software changed it to el conductor. Yes, the English word is conductor, at least in my dialect. My teacher says that, in Spanish, un conductor is the person who drives a train, for example, but not one who leads an orquestra. Any other opinions?

Your teacher is right. "Conductor" is also the driver of a car, from the verb "Conducir" - 005faa61, Oct 29, 2010
