Explanation of widget, embed and flashcards

Question

Could someone explain to me the significance of

a) the terms "widget and embed, together with their use?

b) How you develop a set of flashcards? I think I understand their value to the learning process.

I regret that being of mature years these terms are not familiar to me.

If you don't create or manage a website, you probably don't have any use for Embedded code or Widgets.

However, at SpanishDict, you can create flashcard sets without any special computer skills. There's a nice reference article here on how to create Flashcards.

A widget is like a web-gadget. Usually it's something you can download and often you can get an HTML code, called the Embed code. HTML code is the base coding for internet webpages.

Embed is a verb, but is also somethings used as an adjective. It also involves HTML coding. If you have access to a website or page, you for format that site and use the embed code for the site. Embedding is a way to post a widget on your own site.
