What is the rule for conjugation in case there are more than one verb in a sentence.

Like see sentence below:-

Pepe (ir)_____ a Salir pero Maribel no (poder) _______ ir porque (tener) _____ que estudiar.

I understood that only 1st verb to be conjugated, but i am little puzzled as in case of so many verbs what is supposed tobe done?

Thanks in advance.

what is one supposed to do, or what should happen :) - Kiwi-Girl, Oct 27, 2010
Also your title should say 'More than one 'verb' in a sentence :) - Kiwi-Girl, Oct 27, 2010

You are correct in saying that you need to conjugate the first verb only when they are right next to each other - so;

'she isn't able to go' would be - no puede ir

  • you try the others smile

To tell the truth I'd say...

Pepe va a salir pero Maribel no podrá ir porque tiene que estudiar

But Kevin's answer sounds very good too...

I sort of assumed that if was what he was working on he may not know many conjugations, yet. - KevinB, Oct 27, 2010

That rule only applies when one subject is doing the multiple verbs in one phrase. Otherwise you conjugate them just like always.

Pepe va a salir pero Maribel no puede ir porque tiene que estudiar.

true, but if it was different subjects wouldn't it be hard to put the two verbs next to each other :) - Kiwi-Girl, Oct 27, 2010
