"....pregunta le si yo alguna vez..."
Sir/ madam,
earlier I had asked a clarification regarding the correct meaning from the legendary song; a version of which by Luis Miguel, virtually haunts me. While I understand the meaning of each and every word of the song, I was unable to get the correct translation / dictinoary meaning of the following portion:
" Mujer, si ppuedes tu con Dios hablar [understood], pregunta le si yo alguna vez..." (I have put a double quotation mark on the correctness of what was downloaded from the lyrics in the video on which I have this specific question, viz, 'pregunta le.'
Is it correct?. If not what is the correct wording?.
Thanks Ashok

It should be "... pregúntale si yo alguna vez..." ( ..... ask him if I at one time ........)
Culé, the song goes on like this:
Mujer,
si puedes tu con Dios hablar,
pregúntale si yo alguna vez
te he dejado de adorar.
Woman, if you can talk to God, ask him if I have ever stopped loving you.
Preguntale si yo alguna vez You don't say pregunta le those two words go together so it's just 1 word
Mujer, si puedes tú con Dios hablar , pregúntale si yo alguna vez..."
they need to be together because it's an imperative, you order her to ask it.
But I'm not sure if the meaning can be understood like that in Spanish. Actually to say this sentence I'd add some more verbs to the second part such as;
Mujer, si puedes tú con Dios hablar , pregúntale si voy a poder hacerlo yo alguna vez..."
I don't know if it's too long. But to be understood easily, I'd do it like that.. ![]()
