"Back home"

"Back home"

I'm studying in México, and I've found that whenever I'm talking about anything back home I have to keep using "en los Estados Unidos", which gets kind of wordy. Is there a Spanish equivalent to "back home"? (eg, "My university back home.")

Note: Google Translate is giving me "de vuelta a casa". Is that right? (eg, "Mi universidad de vuelta a casa.")

There is no literal translation. You will need different expressions depending on what you want to say:

I am back home = He vuelto a casa

My university back home = Mi universidad local / La universidad donde vivo.

"Donde vivo" seems like it'd work, I think. Thanks! - Soninmyeyes, Oct 26, 2010
