I am wondering how do you ask for a specific beverage or drink in Spanish. I have always wanted to know this answer any and all help would be greatly accepted.

In Peru we say "(una) gaseosa" when it is a fizzy soft drink. "Un refresco" is usually a non-fizzy fruit juice drink made from the fruit itself (and usually made at home). "Jugo" would be fruit juice, usually from a carton or not home-made. . .

"Quiero una gaseosa."

The truth is that when I walk into my favorite restaurant they hand me a beer before I ask for it. . .I have seen other people get soft drinks, however.

This explains why "Quiero un Coca-Cola" is universal around the world.

"Quiero una gaseosa".

Curioso Ricardo, en España una gaseosa es una bebida determinada, que se mezcla con otra, con cervez, con vino...

Two ways I see it;

Yo quiero un refresco.

Or to ask for a drink in general,

Yo quiero una bebida.
