(Following on from Vaanz's caption...)

No pasa nada, ¡yo no soy marinero!

It doesn't matter, I'm not a sailor!

Subject pronoun OK here for emphasis? - Richard-Thomas, Oct 26, 2010
Yes, but I would add 'tampoco' to make it sound more idiomatic: 'No pasa nada, ¡yo tampoco soy marinero!'. - bill1111, Oct 26, 2010

Time may change, but the love story stays the same.

"de la derecha". And I'd say "Él besa mejor". Without the pronoun it is ambiguous. - bill1111, Oct 26, 2010

" 'The Sailor's Kiss' is a new quickstep (dance) where you take your partner by surprise...it has already become quite popular on the streets!" tongue wink tongue rolleye smile grin

Editor's note: I was inspired for my caption today by both the Kissing and the leg/foot position of the girl in both photos and thought I would use that as the focus for the humour.

The sailor of the forties appears to be somebody who has experienced years of war, and is letting loose his emotions! The sailor of color appears to be to be soft and unreal! Remember the context of the photo. They had just heard that the war had ended!

Hoy besarse en público pasa desapercibido.

Today kissing in public goes unnoticed.

Bret Farve's younger brother Bart dons his sailor suit and goes out looking for action!

"Bart" should be enclosed by commas.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

No, "la más.., la más" doesn't work. However the way I'd normally translate it "cuanto más.., más.. " sounds weird when the second part contradicts the first one. Anyway, here it is: "Cuanto más cambian las cosas, más se quedan como estaban". - bill1111, Oct 26, 2010

Two differences are the city and the street.

These poor girls have passed out, quick let's give them the kiss of life.

"pobre" is one of those adjectives that change meanings when you put it in front or after the noun. "niña pobre" means that she lives in poverty. You need to say "pobre niña",which means just what you implied "poor girl.. are you hurt?" - bill1111, Oct 27, 2010
Also, "kiss of life" or "beso de la vida" is an unknown expression in Spanish. We only refer to that as "boca a boca" or "mouth to mouth". - bill1111, Oct 27, 2010

The title of the post is “spot the difference”. I agree with Joe.

The difference is that one photo shows the end of a holocaust.

The common name for that game, "spot the difference", is "busca las diferencias" or "encuentra las diferencias". "La diferencia es *que* una foto.." - bill1111, Oct 26, 2010
One word of advice: if you can put a "that" in an English sentence, chances are good that you'll need to put a "que" or other conjunction when you translate it. In this case: "The difference is *that* one photo.. " - bill1111, Oct 26, 2010
Thanks Billistpor. Also thanks for the tip about using que when "that" is applicable in English. - Rolest, Oct 26, 2010
