The word engentar

I had a Spanish lesson today and my tutor used the word engentar. I belive she used it in a reflexive way. She said me engento. She said it means to be around too may people. I couldn't find this word in the dictionary on this site but i did find it somewhere else on line. Can anyone give me more information about this word. How it is used? is it a regional word? is it formal or informal?

It's used in Mexico. It means to be around many people and get disturbed by that.

If you're in a crowded room... but you're ok, then you aren't "engentado"

I use it more commonly in the reflexive way "Me engento".

"Cuando el día está así, uno se engenta"

Maria-Claire - Did you see this notice at the end of the RAE definition of engentar. "U. t. c. prnl.". The notation means "Usado también como pronomial" or in English, also used as a pronomial verb. That makes "engentarse" acceptable. Saludos/Regards. - Moe, Oct 25, 2010
