In Keeping With
I recently heard an old favourite song of mine. One particular line intrigued me regarding its translation into Spanish. Here´s the verse where the line appears.
Then she confronted with her writing there
Simply pretended not to care
I passed it off as just "in keeping with"
Her total disconcerting air.
Would in keeping with be "lo transcurrí como si estaba de armonía con"
Here´s the song if anyone is interested. Guys, please don´t look at it if you are still hurting from the first girl who ever dumped you. It may bring back memories.
Girls, I hope it doesn´t make you feel guilty if it reminds you of the first guy you dumped.
For the benefit of the Spanish learning English "to dump a boyfriend - deshacerse de/librarse de un novio"

Hi, Eddy!
Just a guess;
Simplemente lo asumí como algo acorde a su desconcertante carácter.
This is somewhat tricky, because even in English I'm not really sure of what this means.
My interpretation is that "I" (the dumped party, I assume), am thinking about her (the dumper) disconcerting air. My conclusion is that these actions are "in keeping with" her personality, in other ways, her acts are consistent with her general weird, incomprehensibly female ways.
If so, I would translate "in keeping" with as: "Lo asumí / lo tomé como su forma de ser"
Alternatively: "Lo tomé como una de esas cosas de ella"
Then again, if I'm completely off with my interpretation of the verse, it would have to be translated differently. ![]()
But I think this should work...
