what are the rules for using the words "se", "su" and "tu"?
I get confused on when to use these words. There has to be some kind of reasoning to it.

Welcome to the forum. Su and tu are pretty straightforward. They are just the possessive pronouns that mean "your".. Su is formal, tu is familiar, so which to use depends on your relationship with the person you're talking to.
Me gusta su coche nuevo, jefe = I like your new car, boss
¿Hijo, dónde está tu hermano? = Son, where is your brother?
Se is a completely different animal, It can be used in a large variety of ways in a large variety of situations. There's just too much material to cover in one post.
