"Co(m)" comes from Latin "cum", meaning "together", as in "cooperate" (to operate together), colleague (together in a league or group).

"Patriota" is related to "patriot", which originally meant "related to the 'patria'", where "patria" means "fatherland" or "mother country", from the Latin word "pater", meaning "father".
