Just to comment, is there no way to use a form of animar here? Alentador, which I haven't heard used much, is fairly new to me, and my take on aliento has always been "breath". Never it heard it outside of that usage.

If I said "Los jóvenes también fueron muy animados por sus palabras" wouldn't that be "The kids were also very encouraged by his words". Or would it mean that the words made them very animated. Doesn't animado imply both "encouraged" and "animated"? Also, no way to hit "encouragING" without switching from "animar" to alentador"? Gracias.

"Thanks for your comments, they were very encouraging"

Depends on the context but in present sounds good - "Gracias por vuestros comentarios, son muy alentadores"

"Encouraging" is translated as "alentador" (derived from "aliento" which means "encouragement").

"Gracias por sus comentarios; fueron muy alentadores". [It actually sounds better to indicate who they were encouraging to..."me fueron" - to me...."le fueron" - to him/her...."nos fueron" - to us..."les fueron" - to them]

example: "gracias por sus comentarios; me fueron muy alentadores" (they were encouraging to me.)
