"habrán experimentado", the literal translation, is perfectly valid too. Also, "habrán pasado por momentos tanto de felicidad como de tristeza" - cogumela, Oct 22, 2010
Gracias cogumela. I decided to go with the first option that you suggested. - Rolest, Oct 22, 2010

Beautiful song from "El Sol de México".! Good for practice too.. - sv2qp, Oct 22, 2010
Wow, he enunciates very clearly. :) - galsally, Oct 22, 2010
"Permítame". Also: songs, paintings, movies, etc.. are said to be "of" a person in Spanish, rather than "by" a person. In this case: "esta canción de Luis Miguel". - bill1111, Oct 22, 2010
Finally, in this case it is "que trata de" rather than "que se trata de". When you talk about the plot of a movie, the theme of a song, etc.. you don't use "se"; "se trata de" is usually said when you ask about details about something (a problem, news.. ) - bill1111, Oct 22, 2010

I agree , but maybe he has moved a few degrees further on than sadness, and when one is so aware of it , mayhap, it becomes something else? - ray76, Oct 22, 2010
Maybe "Nuestro amigo Alvite está siempre muy triste" or "nuestro amigo Alvite siempre está triste" - RobertoSpain, Oct 22, 2010

"Aún una vida feliz no puede estar sin una medida de la oscuridad, y la palabra feliz perdería su significado si no estuviese equilibrada por la tristeza".

"Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness."

Carl Jung

¿Cómo saber qué es la felicidad sin saber la tristeza? How would you know what happiness is without knowing sadness?

"Incluso una vida feliz no deja de tener una parte de oscuridad.." and "..sin contraponerla a la tristeza". You can also say what you wrote, but fixing the grammar: "si no estuviese equilibrada por la tristeza". - bill1111, Oct 22, 2010
So true, wansell :) - Brynleigh, Oct 22, 2010

"suffering" as a verb is "sufriendo", but as a noun is "sufrimiento". - bill1111, Oct 22, 2010
you need more words, "cuando veo sufrir a alguien" - RobertoSpain, Oct 22, 2010
That's because he didn't choose the right word for "suffering". "Me siento triste cuando veo sufrimiento" is perfectly fine, and so is "cuando veo a alguien sufriendo" or "cuando veo sufrir a alguien". - bill1111, Oct 22, 2010
Thanks Bill,I tried to keep it simple,I thought I'd make fewer mistakes...JeJeJe..(methinks) - jennyo45, Oct 22, 2010

La tristeza de un nido de pájaros abandonado lleno de nieve... the way you said it means "filled with snow birds" :) - Tonyriva, Oct 22, 2010
Oh No! Not Snow!! The weather channel is saying "snow tonight" :( - Brynleigh, Oct 22, 2010
Thank you so much, but mine was an interesting version , and maybe could be right , but not in this instance, i apreciate your help. - ray76, Oct 22, 2010
It is possible that "birds nest" needs to be "bird's nest" or "birds' nest." - JoyceM, Oct 22, 2010
Sorry about the snow Bryn, that looks like where i used to live in "Galt". - ray76, Oct 22, 2010
Thank you Joyce , I always find that very confusing , I need help in that direction. I am Australian remember , so if you have a link I can look at I would apreciate it. - ray76, Oct 22, 2010
Yes, Ray, it does look like "anytown" Canada in the winter. Australian is such a looooong way from Galt though. from - Brynleigh, Oct 22, 2010

Aquél que de piedra se yergue en el medio observa con tristeza los labios entrelazados de los amantes cobijados por el anonimato que brindan sus alas y su silencio.

That's difficult to translate! How about '...woefully observes....sheltered by..' With poetic license I think it would be acceptable to put the adverb before the verb? Very nice, Tony. - galsally, Oct 22, 2010
Oh, also 'anonymity'. :) - galsally, Oct 22, 2010
'intertwined' - bill1111, Oct 22, 2010

"sadness", and in this case (I think) that you intended to say "sonrisa triste", as "triste sonrisa" should be translated as "lone smile". - bill1111, Oct 22, 2010

No puedes impedir que las aves de la tristeza vuelen hacia ti, pero puedes impedir que aniden en tus cabellos.

( You can not prevent the birds of sadness flying towards you, but you can prevent them from nesting in your hair. )
