Basically ser is used for;

1.character traits such as height (inherent characteristics or traits)

La muchacha es alta. The girl is tall.

2 origion Paco es de México. Paco is from Mexico

3.. dates ¿Cuál es la fecha? What is the date?

4.identifiication Es el libro de Paco. It is Paco's book.

5.. Nationality Marta es mexicana. Marta is Mexican.

6.Time Son las ocho. It's 8:o'clock.

7..occupation Soy profesora. I am a teacher.

8.relationship. Juan es mi hijo. John is my son.

The conjugation is;

ella es

Nosotros/Nosotras somos

Vosotros/Vosotras sois
