The Battle of Towton

Good evening friends,

I've just watched a TV program about a horrific event that took place many years ago. I thought it would be a good idea to try and give a brief outline of the story to improve my Spanish. I'm not looking for a faithful translation, just a test of my Spanish skills. Thanks.

The Battle of Towton is the bloodiest battle ever fought on English soil. It took place on the 29th of March 1461 about 12 miles south west of York. It is estimated that 28,000 people died (roughly 1% of the entire population of England at the time) most of them while fleeing the battlefield.

La Batalla de Towdon es la mas sanguinaria que ha sido luchada en la tierra inglesa. Tuvo lugar el 29 de Marzo de 1461, unas 12 millas sur-oeste de la ciudad de York en el norte de Inglaterra. Se estima que 28.000 de personas murieron (aproximadamente 1% de la entera población inglesa de aquel entonces) dentro de 12 horas, la mayoría mientras intentando escaparse de la masacre.

La Batalla de Towdon es la más sanguinaria librada en tierra inglesa. Tuvo lugar el 29 de Marzo de 1461, a unas 12 millas al suroeste de la ciudad de York, en el norte de Inglaterra. Se estima que 28.000 de personas murieron (aproximadamente un 1% de la --- población inglesa de aquel entonces)---, la mayoría de ellas mientras trataban de escapar de la masacre.
