explaining tourist status
Hello, I'm trying to help a friend explain her passport / tourist status in Spain. I would be grateful to anyone who can proofread and make suggestions or corrections. Thanks!
No es cierto que salir de la Unión Europea para un período corto de tiempo reinicializa el tiempo de turismo. Esto sólo es cierto si se queda fuera del área de Schengen de 90 días o más.
[It's not true that leaving the EU for a short time renews the 90-day tourist period. This is only true if one stays outside of the Schengen area for 90 days or more.]
Or, to say it another way:
No se puede renovar/reinicializar/reponer el periodo turístico por salir de la zona de Schengen por un período corto. El período que se pasa fuera de la zona Schengen se debe ser de 90 días o más.
[You can't reset/renew the tourist period by leaving the Schengen area for a short time. The time spent outside of the Schengen area must be 90 days or more.]

Hola:
1ra frase: "Por" en vez de "para". Yo diría "reinicia". (No añadiste 90 day tourist period en la versión en español.)
2da: Yo no diría "reponer" (make up for) o "renovar" (renovate), creo que "reiniciar" es la mejor opción. I would add "de tiempo" después de periodo corto (that might just be style). "Zona Schenger debe ser de", no necesitas "se".
