You could probably concoct a Spanish equivalent to the word, but it wouldn't mean the same thing that it means in american English due to the historical significance of the word here in this country. The above picture is cool. Is that Scarlet in the front row?

It literally (latin) means 'before the war' so in Spanish I'm guessing it would be 'antes de la guerra'.

If it's used in connection with the USA I think it refers to pre-Civil War America especially as far as culture went in the south.
