how do I use the many synonyms for "to become" ?

Question

hacerse, volverse, convertirse can all mean to become, how do you know when to use which one? As a non-native speaker it is really hard to distinguish between the uses of each so anything that could narrow down the uses of these synonyms for someone like me would be very helpful.

Exactly the same way we learn English: by reading and listening a lot.

Poner las llaves ahí = To put the keys over there

Ponle azucar = Add some sugar to it

Poner peros a todo = Find fault with everything

Poner música = Play music

Poner rojo a alguien = Make someone blush

Poner mala cara = Look annoyed

Poner algo de comer = Give something to eat

Poner un mensaje = send a message

Poner al niño Juan = Name the child Juan

Poner un negocio = Open a business

And the list goes on and on.
