Why does he say "por un rato"? Doesn't that mean for a while?

I agree with jeezle, he is saying for a while, so that promise is to be taken with a grain of salt
Maybe he's saying "to be unfaithful even for a minute." Or maybe he's been convinced that it's not nice to be unfaithful, but is expecting to recover his former bad-boyfriend-hood soon.
