What does pierde mean'?

I can't find it in my dictionary... What is the definiton and how to you conjugate it into the preterit tense? Thanks!

Pierde - H/s/y loses, does lose, is losing.
This is from the verb perder (to lose), which in the preterite is conjugated like this:
Perdí - I lost
Perdiste - You lost
Perdió - H/s/y lost
Perdimos - We lost
Perdieron - They lost
