writing a spanish paper, and i have to say a kid is standing on the bridge. " un chico...?"

Welcome to the forum. Ordinarily I'd suggest using the translator and the dictionary, but they're not doing too well on this one. The problem is that "to stand" varies a lot from place to place and from situation to situation. In this case I'd say something like:

Un chico está de pie en el puente
